Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan, Silambarasan TR, Trisha among others is a crime drama co-written and directed by Mani Ratnam which releases in theaters on June 5, 2025. Recently, team Thug Life was in Mumbai to promote the film's Hindi release, and lead actor and co-writer Kamal Haasan made it a point to address the OTT concern that usually plagues the Hindi release of a non-Hindi film. 

Multiplex regulations in the Hindi belt puts an an eight-week gap between any film's theatrical release, and its digital premiere. Hence movies not maintaining this streaming platform gap are usually not screened in major multiplex chains across North India.

However Kamal Haasan has assured that Thug Life's OTT release will be only after 8 weeks of its theatrical run. “I’m glad the OTT partners (Netflix) sat down with us and agreed. It wasn’t a negotiation; it was a plan. We hope others can follow this and it will make the industry healthy”, said Kamal Haasan during Thug Life's Mumbai promotions. 

Given the 8-week window update, the expected Thug Life OTT release date is July 31, 2025 or between August 1 - August 3, 2025. The movie has AR Rahman for music.
