GV Prakash Kumar Bags Second National Award for Best Music Director for Vaathi
GV Prakash Kumar has once again made Tamil cinema proud by winning the Best Music Director award at the 71st National Film Awards for his work in the Dhanush-starrer Vaathi. This marks his second National Award win in this category, following his earlier recognition for Soorarai Pottru at the 68th National Film Awards, where he shared the honor with S Thaman (for Ala Vaikunthapurramalo).
The composer expressed heartfelt gratitude, especially towards Dhanush, who played a key role in bringing him on board the project. He also thanked director Venky Atluri, producers Naga Vamsi and Trivikram Srinivas, and the entire team of musicians and technicians who contributed to the film’s soulful album.

With this win, GV Prakash becomes only the third Tamil composer to achieve this feat multiple times, joining legends like Ilaiyaraaja and AR Rahman. While Ilaiyaraaja has three wins (including one for a Telugu film), Rahman has received the honor across Tamil and Hindi cinema.
