Written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie with Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead is an upcoming Tamil language action thriller that is set to release in theaters on August 14, 2025. The highly anticipated Coolie  trailer is out now and the video unleashes a mass bonanza, living up to every bit of the built-up hype. 

While the trailer in itself is one of the best to come out of Lokesh's portfolio, Coolie also showcases Rajinikanth in a refreshingly new light, despite the tried and tested genre of the film. Coolie's plot was heavily guarded till the trailer's release, and that has added to the intrigue, making the trailer experience worth the while. 

Rajinikanth plays 'Deva' in Coolie, a character with a past. Rajasekar (Sathyaraj) is his friend, who reveals in the trailer that Deva is a secret weapon that has remained hidden for 30+ years. The villainous network of smuggler Daaha (Aamir Khan), TV channel owner Simon (Nagarjuna), and harbour rogue Dayal (Soubin Shahir) are out to get a measly mansion owner Deva after killing Rajasekar—why is what forms the crux of Coolie. 

Lokesh Kanagaraj has said previously stated that Coolie is a movie about 'luxury watches', and Coolie trailer adds to the plot by revealing Rajinikanth as an young porter in Maharashtra, who goes into hiding after ruffling feathers with the rich and poweful. Kannada star Upendra Rao who plays Kaleesha, is Rajinikanth's fellow coolie in the past portions.
