Ahead of Coolie's release on August 14, 2025, a day that also marks Rajinikanth's 50 years in the movies, film's writer-director Lokesh Kanagaraj has penned a heart-felt tribute in honour of his lead actor. The X post made on Lokesh Kanagara's official handle reads,

Lokesh Kanagaraj also shared four new Coolie working stills, which give us a glimpse of the actor-director duo in action behind-the-scenes. Coolie is Lokesh Kanagaraj's sixth full-length feature film following Leo (2023), Vikram (2022), Master (2021), Kaithi (2019), and Maanagaram (2017). 

Coolie marks Lokesh's maiden collaboration with Sun Pictures, Rajinikanth, Shruthi Haasan, Amir Khan, Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, among others. Coolie is also Lokesh's first A-censored film. The action thriller has Anirudh Ravichander for music.
