Coolie 'Kingpin' is Nagarjuna, confirms I Am The Danger lyric video!

Telugu star actor Nagarjuna made his Tamil debu as a baby artist with a dubbed movie titled Thooya Ullam in 1961. But his Kollywood debut as a lead act with Ratchagan (1997), is what really popularized the actor with the Tamil cine audience. 

 

Nagarjuna has since appeared in Telugu-Tamil bilinguals titled Payanam (2011), Thozha (2016), and Kuberaa (2025). Coolie is Nagarjuna's sixth Tamil outing, and the actor for the first time is playing the role of a ruthless villain to protagonist Rajinikanth in the movie. 

A prominent theme in Coolie is the name 'Kingpin' plastered on a shipyard container, and from the opening scene of Coolie's trailer to the widely popular Monica song, this 'Kingpin' has been hard to miss. On Wednesday, with a day left for Coolie's release, Sun Pictures unveiled the lyric video of 'I Am The Danger', a track dedicated to Nagarjuna's Simon character in Coolie. 

 

I Am The Danger lyric video has now confirmed that Nagarjuna is the 'Kingpin', who runs the port that Coolie is set around. Coolie's censor report had revealed that Simon (Nagarjuna) has a confrontation scene with Dhayal (Soubin Shahir), and this scene's glimpse can now be seen in I Am The Danger lyric video too. 

I Am The Danger's 'came from the dirt, now we own these streets' lyric, also confirms that Nagarjuna's Simon character despite being a rich smuggler, had the background of a normal thug once upon a time. Interestingly, Rajinikanth's Deva character is shown as a Maharashtra-based coolie worker, who for 30 years goes underground in Coolie movie.

 

While Coolie trailer did give away that Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna have crossed paths in the past, it remains to be seen what kind of dynamic they shared. Nagarjuna meanwhile has commented that Coolie's Simon is so bad, he would never tell his grandchildren that he played such a role. "I definitely don’t want to tell my grandchildren about this role. It’s bad, too bad”, said Nagarjuna. The Telugu star has also said that Coolie is equivalent to '1000 Baasha' (Rajinikanth's blockbuster hit from 1995).
